Mark Stirton Podcast

Writer/director Mark Stirton, creator of "The Planet" and "One Day Removals," has just done a podcast for cool movie site "I am do filmmaker - here.

The interview covers his previous movies, work in London and some wee details on the new movie "Good Guys versus Bad Guys."

It also contains lots of swears. So watch your poor ears. Listen!

A Birthday Cake

A non-specific director of Stirton Productions is a non-specified age on Saturday the 27th of March. So we had a little party for him last night to celebrate the thing that isn't happening.

Susan, wife of producer Kerwin Robertson (in photo wearing a blue shirt), made a special cake (with the help of Kerwin, apparently...) for Mark. Mark Stirton, may, or may not be, a huge geeky fan of the world's longest running sci-fi/fantasy show, Dr Who.

The cake had enough blue icing on it to destroy a kindergarten, as a result most of us haven't slept since eating it and one producer (the one typing this and not in the photos) is freaking out and looks like Mum-Ra.

Great cake. Cake. Cakey cake heheeheheh.

One Day Removals - Raindance Screening

London, 16th Raindance Festival - Premiere of One Day Removals - huge hit.

That's all I really need to say, but I'll carry on.

The screening of the movie on Saturday went so well we were cleared out of the 100 or so dvd's we'd brought down with us. People were so happy to get a copy they actually thanked us - now that makes a change. It was great to see the movie on a big screen and the audience laughed at all the right bits. After the screening we'd bump into people on the street, who raved about the movie. That's in London by the way - Yeah baby, etc.

After the movie was a q&a session with Mark Stirton and the rest of us  (Me, Patrick Wight, Mike Mitchell and Steve Tomas) no one asked what the hell people were saying in the movie, so the doric dialect and the accent wasn't a problem. Neither was the swearing. So it was all good.

Being one of the festival director, Elliot Grove's top picks was a great boost to the movie. We'd like to thank him and the rest of the festival organisers and staff for their amazing support throughout the festival. Thanks folk.

I'll post photos as soon as I can.

Interview Time

A recent review of "The Planet" by M.J. Simpson, of SFX magazine etc., led a few of the Stirton Towers crew to get in touch with him. The review was sort of good but we thought it had missed the mark (pardon the pun) a bit in it's criticism of the movie's vagueness and lack of explanation of events - for those who haven't seen the movie, that was the point: lots of things happen to normal folk and they can't explain them. Star Trek it ain't.

The reviewer didn't however tell us to 'sod off' when we got in touch, and even asked if we (Mark and I, sorry Kerwin) would be willing to do a short interview. So here are links to the interviews about the movie, from 2 different points of view.
