Bloody Hell!

Thought it was about time I did a post about the film. Mark is currently editing the footage together and rarely sees daylight, but we're still doing bits at the weekends so everything is coming together nicely. The footage I've seen so far looks great and it's amazing the results Mark is getting from the Canon XL H1 with its comedy viewfinder, I think talent may have something to do with it.

On top of all the usual film stuff Mark has also re-edited "The Planet," to introduce a separate dialogue track for overseas sales (the movie was made so cheaply it only had 2 channels of sound). The dvd will be available soon in Japan, due to our agent, Cut Entertainment, getting a distribution deal there - so we're all pretty beefed about that and looking forward to it opening up in more territories.

A few weeks ago we did some more bodies in the van shots, this time with a full corpse count: Mark had prepared 4 body doubles in bags and Kerwin and I were the "live bait," on top. After a little make up and a few gallons of bleed we rolled about on top of a van load of stiffs and got well sticky (never ask me to repeat that). Here are the results.

Kerwin Robertson (the Fisherman) with partial make up for the "eye-hook."

Mark filmed the shot from many angles, I hadn't been asked to make up this area!

Me (doubling for farmer character) after 20 minutes of make up.

The finished result, utter carnage.

Thats what I'm talkin' about! Sweet!

We decided not to have arms off and guts everywhere. Just as well as Mark had to clean out the van afterwards and it took hours. That blood just sticks to everything.

Yeah, but it looks fantastic. I can't believe you were in make up for only 20 minutes. I thought I was fast. It looks quite disgusting!

We finally have our trailer on line at the official site, by the way.

Hi Allen, I'll look forward to seeing trailer. The make up was very easy to slap on, funny thing is you only see the back of my head in shot as I was doubling for another actor.

Andrew, a zombie daughter! That sounds like a Troma film title, you'll have to put some shots on your blog of that.

Poor Mr burny Mike.

Was that as hard to clean up as it looks?

Heh, I can still smell your blood recipe.

I had strawberry syrup up my nose for days after that.

What is it with you and snorting strawberry syrup ? Most people are just honest and do drugs, oh but not you !! :) Must be a Scottish thing !

I'm on 2 bottles a day at the moment, then at the weekends I hit the hard stuff - chocolate syrup!

Don't think the van will ever get rid of the smell, it's like an ice cream van now.

In that case can I have a 99 and two juicy fruit lolly's please !? :)

I like 99's they remind me of the KLF

Did you see the program where they were trying to discover the origins of the 99 ? At one point it was a block of ice cream between 2 wafers which I think had 99 written on them, I don't think they came up with a conclusive answer, there were lots of people claiming to know of it's origins though.

No fair...I'm lost. 99?

A 99'er is a type of ice-cream children and fat adults buy from mobile ice cream vendors in Scotland. They drive round, play a loud tune, then sell ice-cream out the side window. You've probably got something similar in the states only with hand-guns or raw meat?

Anyway, a '99'er'is, I think, Ice Cream between 2 wafers usually with a chocolate base. It's affa fine! Yum.

I am chubby Marky.

A 99 is a cone with 2 chocolate sticks (or flakes). Or it was in my area, perhaps the wafers are regional variations.

Ah yes. We do have a simular sort of vendor. There is the ice creeam truck and the 'I scream' truck. The latter is where the raw meat and guns are sold.

Mmm, that sounds familiar. Maybe that is a 99'er? What's the wafer thing called then?

I'd like to point out that one should never leave Mike sat on a computer which also has one's Blogger account open.

Not sure about the KLF reference.

99's great, but I think 1 flake was the norm for my childhood.

Duncan/not Mike

The ice cream between wafers is a "slider." Not to be confused with the sf show with a similar name, but John Rhys Davies may have appeared in both.

They are justified and they are ancient
And they drive an ice cream van.
