Removals - The short film that grew up

Made in 2001, the original "Removals" was the sum of 6 years of trying to get a feature film made. In the end (or so we thought) we ended up with a nice little short, based on the full length script.

The short did the usual round in festivals, opening at Glasgow's "In The Cut" festival to a good reception. After a while we put it in a box and got on with other stuff - Until 2007 when we decided to actually make the feature film we planned a decade before. One Day Removals was the result.

This is the first time the original short has been seen online. If you liked the feature that grew out of it, you may want to check it out for a comparison. "Removals" stars Bob Burns and Kenny Luke. Written and directed by Mark Stirton. Produced by me.

That's me, the rather frightened looking chap being groomed by Thor.

HBO Buys One Day Removals

Thanks to our excellent sales company - Cinemavault, our movie "One Day Removals" has been acquired by broadcaster HBO.

This is a great bit of news and we're all pretty happy. Currently it is only available in Eastern Europe, but we're hoping that other territories will be opened up soon. It is fun to watch "faceci-od-przeprowadzek" in Polish though, it's so sweary!

World's Rudest Movie Invades Loch Ness

Stirton Productions sweary, Scottish comedy 'One Day Removals,' is to screen at this year's Loch Ness Film Festival.

The festival, now in it's second year, is located in Drumnadrochit, on the banks of Loch Ness. The festival will run from May 26th - 29th and will be screening short films and features from around the world.

The movie's production team, director Mark Stirton and producers Michael Clark and Kerwin Robertson, will be attending the screening to answer questions after the movie.

Movie will screen on Saturday 28th at 7.30pm. The screening will be the first outing for the movie's new cut, created for our sales company Cinemavault.

'One Day Removals,' filmed in Aberdeen city and shire, contains more swearing than any other dramatic feature film. Not a film for the easily offended - but it does contain some very broad humour, for those that enjoy their comedy in large buckets.

If you are in the area and want tickets, they can be purchased from here.

24th Edmonton Film Festival - One Day Removals

The 24th Edmonton International Film Festival is to screen our mad black comedy "One Day Removals." The film will be screened on Thursday, September 30th at 5pm.

Our distributor, Cinemavault, have provided a subtitled copy of the movie for the screening. The subtitles will be in English, to help the audience with some of the Doric phrases, but I'm sure they'll be able to understand most of the dialogue without them: "fit the fuck are we gannie dae"? may be universal.

This will be the first time the new 'release cut' has been shown, so we hope the folks like it.

The Next Movie

I know you've all been asking for a while now what the next film will be, so lets put you out of our misery with this announcement.

We're in the scripting and pre production art phase of our next movie - 'Good Guys Versus Bad Guys.' To get the ball rolling Mark Stirton has posted some of his layouts on his blog - here. I'll do the same and hopefully quite soon we'll have heaps of stuff to play with. I've attached an early poster layout, so all elements are open to change at the moment. There will be a Facebook page set up soon for the movie, I'll let you know as soon as it's up.

Not giving too much away about plot until all the parts are in place, but it is a big action movie with big bongos.

A Birthday Cake

A non-specific director of Stirton Productions is a non-specified age on Saturday the 27th of March. So we had a little party for him last night to celebrate the thing that isn't happening.

Susan, wife of producer Kerwin Robertson (in photo wearing a blue shirt), made a special cake (with the help of Kerwin, apparently...) for Mark. Mark Stirton, may, or may not be, a huge geeky fan of the world's longest running sci-fi/fantasy show, Dr Who.

The cake had enough blue icing on it to destroy a kindergarten, as a result most of us haven't slept since eating it and one producer (the one typing this and not in the photos) is freaking out and looks like Mum-Ra.

Great cake. Cake. Cakey cake heheeheheh.

The Planet - Now on Blinkbox

Watch movies online and free tv

Those lovely folk at Raindance TV have released our first movie, "The Planet," online. It is being hosted by the movie/TV site Blinkbox, for rent or download.

The Planet was released in 2007 and is available on DVD in the USA and Japan, this new online release is licensed to UK only. So apologies to anyone overseas still waiting to see it.

The Planet, stars our mate Mike 'Mr Universe' Mitchell, as the beleaguered captain of a shipwrecked crew in space. The movie has space battles, monsters, ghosts and beefy chaps in t-shirts; all on a budget of £4.50 and some sandwiches. In our minds it's much better than Avatar.

Celebrity Big Brother 2010

Hi folks, and a happy new year to you all. Hope you are all having a good one, snow permitting.

I'll start the new year off by saying 'Celebrity Big Brother'.... 'Why?'
Really, why? I'd give them all chainsaws and unlimited drugs - whoever makes it out alive gets a new film contract.

To vent my spleen I did another texty animation. In Doric - The language of the gods.

Happy Fu*king Christmas

A happy Christmas/holidays etc to all you people out there.

I hope you all have a good time and enjoy yourselves. A special mention to all the service men and women overseas at this time, all the very best to you and stay safe.

And remember the true message of Christmas, Dr Who is on tomorrow. I'll have my Tardis pajamas and woolly dalek cap on to watch it - will you?

DVD Demand Demands DVD Duplicates

Sorry, I got carried away with the title.

Sales for Stirton Productions, murder comedy "One Day Removals," have gone a bit mad so we've had to extend our sales into the new year.

We have limited stocks now, so anyone wanting to buy a copy online better get a move on. We are going to be stopping selling the movie ourselves, but you'll have to wait for news on that.

Also, the annual Stirton Productions Christmas party was held last night at the new Stirton Towers complex. In keeping with the company charter, we had to to play one entire game of "War Of The Daleks." (which is ace) This year's game was won by producer, Kerwin Robertson: who got called a git, for winning.

In other news: The dvd of the movie will no longer be sold from our Stirton Productions website after Christmas. So if you do want some mad sweary fun in your stocking this Xmas, you had better buy it quickly.

We'll have news about what's happening with the movie soon. Just don't go anywhere in case you miss it. We'll know, so just keep watching...

Inverness Film Festival One Day Removals Screening

Well, that's the Inverness Film Festival over. We had a run up the road from Aberdeen to attend and it went rather well. There was a good turn out for the screening and the crowd really loved the film, as usual.

One Day Removals seems to have fans of all ages. We were signing copies for folk in their late teens and into their 80's. Two elderly ladies said it was the best laugh they had had in years. We really appreciated that. We had to sign dozens of copies for the audience, it wore us out. Director, Mark Stirton, looked kind of shell shocked afterwards.

At the screening we met up with one of the cast, a veteran from 'The Planet' and 'One Day Removals,' Shawn Paul Hastings and went out for a huge meal afterwards. Getting back to the guest house was a bit of a struggle, but eventually we managed to roll our way there.

A good screening with no problems, thanks to the staff at the Eden Court, who were hosting the festival. Only a couple of photos at the moment, as I was so busy. Kerwin Robertson has a few more, which I'll get up soon.

Remember, One Day Removals is now available on Bablelgum to watch - for free.

The Inverness Film Festival, now in it's 7th year, has earned a name for itself as one of the premier festivals in the UK. We hope to see a good turn out on Sunday 15th, so we get another full house, that would be a hat-trick for the movie as we've filled the screens at two Scottish festivals so far.

BAFTA Scotland and the Amazing Screening of One Day Removals

Yes, it's an old school dr who title for the amazing screening we attended at the BAFTA Scotland headquarter in Glasgow.

Funnily enough, BAFTA is the floor below Scottish Screen, so it took quite an effort to get director Mark Stirton (or me) in the building after the history we've had with them. But hopefully that's all changed now as one of the attendees at the screening was from Scottish Screen and has opened a dialogue with us. We'll look forward to letting you know the fruits of that dialogue in due course.

The screening itself was quite intimate, a viewing room with 10 people (counting us) with the movie being shown via a wee lcd projector attached to a macbook. But, it's one of the best screenings we've had, including the fully booked showings at festivals.

What was meant to be a short q&a, hosted by journalist Eddie Harrison, turned into an hour long matey chat with some lovely BAFTA jury members. We'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to come along and ask some great questions. So fingers all crossed for the feature film nominations in October.

Also, we got to see some police boxes as there are heaps in Glasgow. This one's now a tiny gallery.
